New Brunswick is in the midst of a backlash against 2SLGBTQIA+ people and communities.There is a segment of this backlash that is extreme and is organized. Its participants have protested drag storytime at a public library and professional development for teachers on sexual orientation and gender diversity.

The New Brunswick Women’s Council is pleased that government has introduced the Unlawful Distribution of Intimate Images Act and that the act closely mirrors the Uniform Law Conference of Canada’s Uniform Non-Consensual Disclosure of Intimate Images Act.

The New Brunswick Women’s Council is profoundly concerned by the memo issued by the Government of New Brunswick prohibiting its employees from making land acknowledgements that affirm that the territories of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi’gmaq, and Peskotomuhkatiyik are unceeded and unsurrendered.
